The Serenity Prayer

I know this is called the "verse" of the week, and I'm supposed to be uploading verses, but I really want to share what has been inspiring me daily. I promise there will be a verse in the weeks to come, but not today.

I ran into this prayer a week or so ago and it has really spoken to me. If you don't already know, this prayer is called the Serenity Prayer. It goes like so:

“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time, accepting hardships as the pathway to peace, taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it, trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His will—that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever.”

The most important part I want you to focus on is the first sentence.

"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."

Personally, in my life, I have constantly struggled with change. I don't like it and ultimately I wish it would never happen. But it does. Our lives are constantly changing, God is constantly changing us. So, if I don't like change, how am I able to have peace over those situations.

God.

God is the only one who can give us peace, who can give us serenity. When we turn to God and ask for serenity, it will be given to us. That doesn't mean that our lives are filled instantly with deep, inner peace. We won't automatically be filled. It will be a seed planted in our hearts. It needs to be nurtured as you face the areas that are not peaceful. There is no lasting peace without effort, and our hearts would never be satisfied to things on this earth. God is the only one who can give us the peace that we yearn.

In a world filled with unrest, especially now, it is difficult to find peace. People are out there searching for peace who don't have the God-shaped key needed for their heart. People are out there drowning themselves with alcohol, drugs, and medications to find that peace. We have the answer. God is the answer. God can give us peace.

If you are struggling, find peace in God. If you need someone to talk to, email us or contact a leader. We are here to help and we love you all. Hope you guys have a great day! 😊❤
