Where do I start?
This week has been pretty hectic for me (well, not really). My schedule changed and I don't put much time for God anymore. I've been "busy." I try to fit God in whenever I can, but honestly, I've just been seriously unmotivated. Even as I'm writing this post, I really just want to get up and go do something else.
We all have these seasons. I hope you feel some comfort in knowing that other people are dealing with similar situations. However, that doesn't mean that it's okay. God is our fuel, and we need Him to be a part of our lives.
I know that as I'm writing this post, it's not for my glory. It's for God's. And, yes, I might feel unmotivated. But, this is not about me. This is something that I feel like God wants me to share, so I have to obey whether or not I want to.
Sometimes, spending time with God can seem like a chore. However, it's not about me. It's not about you. It's about God.
When we neglect spending time with God, our spiritual batteries deplete because God is the source of our strength. If we don't spend time with God, how are we able to do what God has created us to do?
There is no simple answer when we are unmotivated. It can be hard to find that motivation. But, if we rely on ourselves, our spiritual batteries will run into the red and dangerous ten percent.
So instead of sitting and waiting for motivation, push for it. If you do nothing, nothing will change. So, ask God for motivation. Maybe play some Christian music and worship. You may even have to force yourself to sit down and get in the word: that means getting rid of all possible distractions, and that may mean making yourself read a chapter or two.
Go out of your way to spend time with God. Because when we spend time with God, He refills us where we have become empty, and we are then able to do what He has created us to do.
We need to recharge and refill our batteries daily. Just like our bodies need sleep, our spirits need rest as well. How can we have strong, vibrant spirits without investing in them?
Allow yourself to be filled up with God's Spirit. Spend time with God whether you feel like it or not. Make time to be with Him. I promise that good things will come out of it. Whether it is joy or fulfillment, whether it is peace or confidence, I know that there is fruit produced when we spend time with Him.
It's not easy. I'm not going to say it is. But I encourage you to do it. Don't wait, want. If you truly want something, aren't you going to push for it?
Set aside time, today, to spend with the Lord. Good things will come out of it.
