"The one thing I ask of the Lord--
the thing I seek most--
is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
delighting in the Lord's perfections
and meditating in His temple."
~ Psalms 27:4 NLT
The Lord is nearer than you think.
Sometimes, if we aren't careful, we can associate God's presence with emotions and songs as if they are always the gate to God's presence.
But seeking His presence is as simple as just being around another person. The only difference is that He will never leave. He is with you, closer than the air you breathe. It doesn't matter what we feel or what our circumstances are, He is always faithful.
However, just as we can be in the same room as a friend and not be fully aware of them, you can also walk through life apart from experiencing God's nearness.
We are not created to walk apart from His Spirit. Don't go through life being so focused on your to-do list that you fail to be sensitive to God's presence.
"The great spiritual danger we face is not suddenly sprinting away from God but allowing your heart to slowly drift from His presence," (Experiencing Nearness to God, a YouVersion Bible Plan).
We have all felt drained due to the vain pursuits in our lives; but if you continue to seek God, no matter the season, it will never come back void or unfruitful.
Run to Him. Run to God because He has healing, acceptance, security, identity, and purpose in His presence. He is the God over all--every question, struggle, trouble, and fear in our hearts. He is an all powerful God who walks with us and holds our hand. He is never far; His presence is with you always. He longs to make Himself known to you. He longs for a relationship with you.
Draw near to Him. Don't rely on your feelings to dictate how you live today. Don't let your circumstances, distractions, or deceitful desires, keep you away from the Father. Seek Him. Remain sensitive to the Spirit of the Lord. Delight in Him, and meditate on His Word.
The Lord is already with you. He is already close to you. All we need to do is draw near to Him too, to seek Him above all else and to live a life that is close to Him.

"Here's the one thing I crave from God,
the one thing I seek above all else:
I want the privilege of living with Him every moment in His house,
finding the sweet loveliness of His face,
filled with awe, delighting in His glory and grace,
I want to live my life so close to Him
that He takes pleasure in my every prayer."
~ Psalms 27:4 TPT
*This blog post is based off of a devotional I recently read. It's called "Experiencing Nearness to God," and it can be found on YouVersion. It really encouraged me, so check it out (it's only a three-day devo). There is also a book called "Start Where You Are" by the same author (Rashawn Copeland). I have yet to read it, but I will probably take a look at it soon.
