"I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit. Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God." ~ Ephesians 3:16-19 NLT
This prayer is for YOU! This is not merely a verse in the Bible, but it's a prayer over YOU!
I can't tell you guys how much I really needed this. This verse has given me the strength to push through my circumstances, reminding me of God's faithfulness and love for me. Recently, I haven't been spending too much time with Him, and I have started to feel the distance. I have been in this very dry season, where I just feel lost and confused all the time.
But, here's the thing: God is still faithful! He still loves me, and you, exactly where we are! He is not the one creating this distance, we are.
Think of Him like the Sun; the Sun is always shining.
Some days it is cloudy, some days there are things that block His light, yet He is still shining. These clouds can be idols, circumstances, temptations, etc., and they may prevent you from seeing God, blocking out that sunlight, but He is still there.
What about at night? Is the sun still shining? Yes, we are just turned away from it. When we are walking the opposite direction, away from God, will He still be faithful? Yes! If you think about how many times God restored the Israelites, who disobeyed Him constantly, do you think He will be any less faithful? Absolutely not! We are exactly like the Israelites, and God will continue to pursue you, and He will continue to stay faithful!
Lastly, it is obvious, when there is not a cloud or storm in sight, that the Sun continues to shine. But think about this. Without the Sun, we would be dead. We wouldn't be able to survive on this earth if there was no Sun. This is how much we need God! Without Him, we are merely dead men walking. We would have no spiritual life. We would die. Without Him, we are worth nothing. We need Him. We need Him to live. He should be the One we seek, the One we rest in, the One we fill up in. We need Him!
So spend some time in His presence! Rest in Him, and allow Him to fill you up.
Find something that brings you to Him: music, prayer, etc.
One thing that brings me back to Him is the night. Before I go to bed, I'll turn off my lights and sometimes open my blinds. I would play some Christian music and just let myself feel it. Sometimes I would dance; sometimes I would sit by my window and just look outside. These times, when I allow myself to really come back to God's presence, have grounded me. I find myself pouring out my heart as I come before Him. He has spoken to me many times in this place, and He has revealed so much as well.
Do something that connects you to Him. Be open to Him, and just spend time with Him! Times will be hard, but remind yourself of this truth: God is always faithful, and He loves you. Dwell on this verse (Ephesians 3:16-19), today. Allow the truth to fill you and encourage you.
Trust Him, for He will never leave you.
